Kitchen countertops!

Hi, All,
Kitchen countertops were installed today. I have to say Alan was right...this darker color really works with the cabinets. They also measured for the bathroom countertops and they should be installed by the end of the month.

The tile is all installed as well. We grouted this weekend and Alan will finish up the Master shower this weekend. The picture below with the subway tile is in the downstairs guest bath. Alan is also doing a fantastic job modeling the shower in the Master bath.

More pics!

Hi, All!

Things are coming along at the new house. They have finished the tile floors, but are currently covered to keep them looking good. The shower walls should be done soon. We also had the bathroom vanities delivered this week and I'm hoping they will be installed next week. The only new picture I have for you now is of the front with the columns installed. They really make a big difference in how the house looks...very southern! I can taste that mint julep right now! It's a little hard to tell in this picture, but they are round columns and are 12" in diameter on the 1st floor and 10" in diameter on the 2nd floor. They look so small in this picture!

More cabinet pictures

Hi,

They added the crown molding late this week and it adds a lot to the kitchen. They started on the columns on the front of the house. I will add pictures when done!

Finally...some pretty pictures!

Hi, everyone,
A lot has happened since our last post. Hardwood floors have been installed on the first floor, tile floors have been installed in 2 of the 3 baths, and best of all...the cabinets were installed in the kitchen! I have spent much time worrying if all the selections will look as nice as I hoped they would and so far so good. Here you go...

The exterior of the house has been painted and the garage doors are up. This house isn't just painted any white...it is called "Steam". I can't wait until the columns are up. That should be a really big change.

To the left of this picture is where the refrigerator will be. The granite is getting measured on Thursday so 2 weeks after that we will have countertops!
Will update again soon!

Interior

Hi, Everyone,

We have some interior pictures for you! They insulated almost 2 weeks ago now and hung the drywall last week. Hopefully the next pictures posted will be of cabinets!

Yet another trench is being dug by Alan. The trenches for the geothermal heating system are in, but he is now digging the trench for the electrical to the house.
I don't think we have had any pictures from the 2nd floor porch. It is so high, but I am looking forward to drinking my morning coffee up there.

This is a picture just inside the front door. To the left is the dining room and straight ahead is the family room/breakfast area.

Here is a picture from the kitchen looking into the breakfast room/family room area. The opening to the left of the picture is the living room. Anyone familiar with our house in Virginia will notice this house is layed out just like that house on the 1st floor.

This is my favorite picture from this posting. It must be because it is finally something decorative! We are so pleased with how the brick around the fireplace came out.
I think it is now safe for me to say...within the next 12 weeks we will be moved in! Hooray!

Finally...some new pictures!

Hi, everyone!

I know it has been some time since I have updated our pictures, but over the past month they have really only done rough in tasks. Pictures of electrical wire and pex piping are not all that exciting and with only the studs up each room really blends into the next which doesn't give you a sense about what is going on. I do have some new outside pictures though!

Alan has been very busy digging the trenches for the geothermal system. We need 4 trenches that are 5 feet deep and 225 feet long. For the past two weeks Alan has been at the house on the weekends from 8AM to 8 or 9PM and during the week from 5.30PM to 9PM digging away. He has almost finished 3 of the 4 trenches. The builder will finish the last one for us this week and put the pipe down and cover them up. It will be nice to see a flat backyard again! It's a little treacherous walking around back there.

Also, earlier this month Alan also installed the central vacuum piping and outlets and the wiring for the whole house stereo. He has been very, very busy! PS: I helped with the central vacuum...I am an expert gluer!

This weekend they also started installing the brick on the house. We are so happy with how it looks...the red brick is so classic!

We also had the wiring run for the alarm system this week and insulation will be put in starting tomorrow. Drywall should be coming soon! I have also finalized the cabinets and am working towards finalizing the granite and tile. Once that is done I really need to buckle down and get the lighting and paint colors figured out. Ooohhh, also the doors finally have arrived! I don't have a picture, but the side porch door is installed and hopefully the rest will be installed this week.

Now that I look at the above picture I see the meter on the side of the house. I think that is an excellent place for a well planted shrub!

All for now! I will update soon. 'til then...

Things are progressing!

They started to side the house yesterday. The house eventually will be white.

Here is a picture of our breakfast room and part of our family room.

Here is a little snippet of our Master Bath. I am looking forward to a nice soak in the tub.

Reilly is doing a lovely job modeling my new craft room...yes, you heard me right! I am looking forward to having scrapbooking space and a knitting nook!

Hi, everyone!

It is freezing here today...31 degrees! I have become a major wimp. Ok...enough complaining. We have really come a long way on the house since we posted last. The windows are in, the roof is on, the house is starting to be sided. We did our electrical walkthrough over Thanksgiving week and today we did our plumbing walkthrough. It is really exciting seeing things start to come together.

Here are the pics...
Well, for some reason I am having a hard time moving the pictures around. I just got a new laptop and I'm sure there is a trick that I haven't discovered yet.
Enjoy...
